Summer season is upon us and everyone is migrating from their fall, winter shoes to lighter summer shoes. But summer also means higher temperatures and heat, which in turn means the season of excessive sweating is coming.
Most women turn to wearing flats during the hotter seasons, and, naturally, all of them avoid wearing socks. This is perfectly understandable when you see how awful wearing socks with flats looks like.
Now comes the real problem – sweaty feet. Wearing any comfortable standing shoes during the summer will make your feet sweat, and wearing flats with no socks usually means smelly feet. Do not despair, however, since there are millions of people with the same problem. Thankfully, there are some methods and tips you can turn to which can remove or reduce the nasty odor coming out of your flats and feet. Let’s take a look.
Soaking Your Feet in Vinegar
Many people have confirmed that this method works for removing the bad odor from their feet when wearing flats with not socks. The solution is to prepare a mixture of water and vinegar in 1:1 ratio and soak for feet in it for roughly 20 minutes or so. The reason for this is that vinegar is great for removing any unpleasant smells and odors, not only from feet, but everything. And you are also getting a foot bath in the process.
Wearing No-Show Socks
This is also a very good idea. Normally people avoid wearing socks with flats because it just doesn’t look good. But using no-show socks will take care of that issue, while providing a surface for your feet to keep the bad odor away despite of the sweat. So, head to the store and get yourself a dozen pairs of no-show socks.
Baking Soda to the Rescue
Baking soda is also known for its ability to remove unwanted smells and odors. However, this is something you should do before and after wearing flats. A lot of people do this by filling socks with baking soda and placing them inside the flats.
After wearing your favorite pair of flats through the day, place some baby powder inside them. You can combine this method with putting foot powder on your feet, and you can actually use that foot powder for your shoes instead of the baby powder. The nice thing is that there are many scented foot powder products available on the market.
Ideally, if you wish you to keep your feet odorless when wearing flats, you should buy some leather flats. However, these come a bit more expensive and are harder to find. If you can get your hands on a pair of leather flats, don’t hesitate to grab them. Your feet should stay free of bad smells without wearing socks.
Deodorant and Wet Wipes
This is probably something you have already tried, but it’s still worth mentioning. Have a spare can of deodorant close to your shoe closet and use it whenever you deem necessary. Also, you can make use of antibacterial wet wipes to wipe your feet with every once in a while. It should take care of the smell.
Have more than a Single Pair of Flats
If you can’t seem to overcome the odor issue with any of these tips, get yourself a few pairs of flats and change them on a daily basis. Not wearing them every single day will lessen their effect on your feet.
